GLASGOW’S new industry network for tourism, Experience Glasgow is set to inspire the next generation of industry leaders through a bespoke development course.

Launched today by participants from the first two programmes; Emma Woodham, Glasgow Science Centre and Krzysztof Kaminiski, Ibis Glasgow City Centre, the Aspiring Leaders Programme focuses on experience-led learning and is now open for entries.

Strategic workshops, guest speakers and the development and implementation of a real-world initiative are the foundations of the programme which aims to improve the visitor experience in the city at destination level, and also benefit the individual businesses.

Starting late February, fourteen places are available on this money can’t buy, experience-led course. The leadership programme is delivered by Connect Three, in partnership with Scottish Enterprise and Experience Glasgow, working to help achieve the priorities and ambitions of Glasgow’s Tourism and Visitor Plan to 2023.

Craig Martin, chair of Experience Glasgow and head of HR Operations at Tennent’s

Craig Martin, chair of Experience Glasgow and head of HR Operations at Tennent’s said: “Nurturing the next generation of talent is essential growing our visitor experience in Glasgow.

“This innovative programme not only brings together our future industry leaders but helps to grow, understand and overcome real-time challenges faced by the sector. It’s invaluable for tourism businesses to invest in their future leaders and a must for anyone thinking about developing their career.”

Emma Woodham, Glasgow Science Centre:

“Participating in the Aspiring Leaders Programme has made me feel even more of a part of Glasgow’s service network.   I enjoyed the chance to share best practice with other delegates and a really special element of the programme was the tours, which allowed me to learn about different attractions across the city.”

Applications are now open for the 2020 Aspiring Leaders Programme for anyone aged 30 and under and working within the Glasgow Tourism and Visitor Economy sectors.

Deadlines for entry is 7 February, through this link https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/aspiring-leaders-programme-2020-tickets-89575265029
