DUCATI Manchester Group (DMG) has acquired the business and assets of the R3 Group which operated the Ducati Glasgow & Triumph Glasgow dealerships in Glasgow.

Business advisors Stuart Preston and Julie Tait of Grant Thornton were appointed as administrators of the R3 Group on 27 November and have completed the sale to DMG saving all 14 jobs at the dealership.

DMG has been an important part of the Ducati dealer network since it was founded in 2002. It currently has 4 Ducati dealerships based in Preston, Manchester, Stoke and Worcester. Chris Booth, the owner and Managing Director of DMG has been the driving force behind the success of the group and is delighted with the new acquisition.

Chris commented: “Ducati Glasgow is a great dealership which also opened in 2002, the same year as our initial store in Manchester.  It made total sense for us to include Glasgow in our Group and we can now offer the customers of Ducati Glasgow the benefits of our huge stock of everything Ducati.  I am proud to be serving Scotland with all that DMG can offer as well as welcoming all existing and new customers to our family.  We are already planning to bring our award-winning customer service, social events, ride outs and trips to Scotland.”

Julie Tait, director in the restructuring team in Grant Thornton Scotland, said: “We are very pleased to have completed a going concern sale of the R3 Group, which will ensure that 14 jobs will be retained and customer orders will continue to be serviced as normal”.

Mike Robins, former owner of the R3 Group which operated the Ducati Glasgow and Triumph Glasgow franchises has invested alongside DMG in the new venture.  Mike said: “I am really excited to be joining the DMG family.  They are a very successful and experienced dealer group.  They will bring their winning formula to Scotland.  It is exciting times ahead.”

Chris added, “We are really pleased to also be welcoming the hard-working staff of Ducati Glasgow & Triumph Glasgow to the DMG team.  The businesses will remain at the current Hillington address for the next few months, but we are planning a new store location for later in 2021.”
