Søstrene Grene officially opens its first ever store in Scotland

ST. ENOCH Centre shoppers enjoyed a day of Scandinavian style and Grand Opening festivities as Søstrene Grene opened the doors of its first ever Scottish store

World renowned Danish retail chain, Søstrene Grene, celebrated the opening of its first Scottish store today (Friday 2nd December) with a Grand Opening event in Glasgow’s St. Enoch Centre.

Queues of shoppers eagerly awaited the Grand Opening in Glasgow’s St. Enoch Centre as Søstrene Grene brings a unique Scandinavian shopping experience to Scotland’s retail landscape, in the heart of Glasgow’s city centre. The first ever Søstrene Grene Scottish store has created 15 new full time and seasonal positions.

Scottish radio presenter Katy Johnston officially opened the store at 9.59AM on Friday morning, welcoming shoppers on a red carpet, serenaded by a beautiful string quartet. The first 100 shoppers were rewarded with vouchers for the brand’s signature tufted rugs, free goody bags, bespoke cupcakes, and complimentary refreshments.

Excited shoppers were transported to a hygge homeware wonderland, experiencing Søstrene Grene’s new Christmas collection,’The Magic of Christmas’, and a huge selection of home interiors, hobby items, small furniture, and kitchen items.

The first Søstrene Grene in Scotland, the store encompasses ‘Retail for the Senses’ – a new concept complete with atmospheric lighting, classical music and beautiful scents, designed to appeal to all the senses and provide a unique shopping experience. The stores aim to encourage customers to slow down the pace of everyday life, experiencing ‘hygge’ and surprises around every corner with new products arriving on the shelves every single week.

Søstrene Grene is a family-owned retailer created by sisters Anna and Clare in 1973 with the aim of bringing ‘beauty to everyday life’. They currently operate more than 260 stores in 15 countries worldwide. Now Glaswegians have the iconic Danish brand on their doorstep, joining newly opened UK stores in Newbury and Derby.

Norma Jacob and Richard Power, who operate the new store said: “What a wonderful opening for Søstrene Grene’s first ever Scottish store! The number of shoppers who turned out for the Grand Opening was spectacular and we’re delighted that everybody was so excited to explore the new store.
