ANGUS Carruthers, Montrose-based Associate at Shepherd Chartered Surveyors, is set to Trek for Tony. The mountainous challenge he has set himself is to complete 20 Munros in just 48 hours in memory of his friend Tony Yorston, who died earlier this year.

Angus’ goal is to raise £1,000 to raise funds for Health in Mind, a charity delivering a mix of services to help people improve their mental health.

He said: “Tony was a lifelong friend to myself and many others. To me, he was always easy going, funny and never happier than when he had a guitar in his hands. I miss him very much and I know many feel the same.

Tony loved the outdoors and getting out of the town. A few years ago, we went for a hike up Glen Esk, which he loved and we spoke about often.

In memory of Tony, I’ll be hiking from Inverey to Glen Esk over 48 hours. The route takes in 20 Munros and will be a challenge. If anyone would like to stop by and say hello or join me for any of the route, you’d be more than welcome.”

As Tony’s family selected Health in Mind as the charity to which they would like donations to go to at his funeral, Angus has selected the same charity.

Donations to his challenge can be made at https://www.justgiving.com/page/gus-carruthers-

The Trek for Tony is on 20 June 2024.
