ISLAND runner, Willie Mitchell, is set to pound the pavements next weekend as he takes on the Edinburgh Marathon to raise vital funds for The Leanne Fund.

Running on the year of the 15th anniversary of losing his daughter Leanne to Cystic Fibrosis, Willie is determined to raise funds for those affected by this terrible disease.

With months of training behind him, Willie is almost set for the big day when he hopes to break his own personal best having last run a marathon in 2012.

He said: “‘It means a great deal to be able to run the marathon in memory of Leanne and to raise money to support others affected by CF. I’m very grateful for everyone’s kindness. ‘”

Willie, who is employed by Harland & Wolff, would like to express his thanks to his colleagues at Arnish and all those who have so generously supported his challenge so far.

If you would like to support Willie, please visit his JustGiving page, https://www.justgiving.com/page/running4leanne.

Each week 5 babies are born with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and two young lives are lost. CF is a life-long, chronic condition and there is currently no cure. The Leanne Fund helps sufferers of CF and their families across Scotland by providing a range of services to make life a little easier – making a difference today.
