Scottish firm gives back – over £55,000 support for charities & local causes

MAC Mic Group, a family-owned property, land and investment company nearing its 100th anniversary in 2025, has announced charitable contributions exceeding £55,000 in the last financial year. This significant sum reflects the company’s dedication to giving back to the communities it serves and supporting those in need.

Mac Mic Group’s charitable giving extends across various initiatives including support for a range of causes championed by Mac Mic Group employees, landowner clients, agents and consultants. These causes included donations to: The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, Comic Relief, Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, RNLI, Movember, Cash for Kids, Duchenne UK, Shelter and the new Millerhill Community Café.

Demonstrating its commitment to local communities, the Mac Mic Foundation supported The Loddon School, a specialist residential school in Sherfield-on-Loddon, Hampshire, catering to children aged 8-19 with profound autism. The Foundation provided a £4,000 contribution to create a new, dedicated garden area for parents during visits with their children. Beyond the financial support, Mac Mic Group also went the extra mile by securing pro bono design work for the new space and committing the team’s time to assist with the installation works.

The Mac Mic Foundation also made the lead donation of £4,000 towards a fundraising project to completely redesign the playground of Somerdale Educate Together, a primary school based in Keynsham, Somerset. The Mac Mic Foundation’s investment has the potential to significantly impact the play experience of the students at Somerdale Educate Together.

In the past year the company also donated £15,000 to five charities tackling homelessness and the cost-of-living crisis across Scotland and England: Centrepoint, 1625 Independent People, South & East Bristol Foodbank, Glasgow Street Aid and Kindness Homeless Street Team Glasgow.

Mac Mic Group’s dedication to helping combat homelessness is a tradition championed by the company’s founders. The Mickel Fund, a registered charity established by the Mickel family, has a legacy of impactful work supporting homelessness spanning five decades.

Andrew Mickel, Director, Mac Mic Group said:

“We’re proud of our long history of giving back and making a positive difference in the communities where we operate. The dedication of the individuals working in the charities we have supported in the last year is truly inspiring and we’re committed to supporting their vital work.”

“We’re delighted to empower our employees through the Mac Mic Foundation to champion causes close to their hearts. Looking ahead to our centennial year in 2025, we remain dedicated to collaborating with communities to help shape a more sustainable and thriving future for all.”
