The Zizzi Italian restaurant on Cresswell Lane in Glasgow’s West End has closed its doors after 15 years in business. The closure was announced this week, with the restaurant ceasing trading immediately.

Zizzi was a popular spot for Italian cuisine, offering a range of stone-baked pizzas and pasta dishes in a friendly setting.

Regular customers have noted the restaurant’s long-standing presence nearby Byres Road and many enjoyed meals there over the years.

Although the exact reasons for the closure have not been made public, recent reviews and changing customer preferences may have played a part.

A note to customers reads: “Zizzi Glasgow west end is now closed.

“We’ve now closed the doors to our Glasgow west end restaurant. Your nearest Zizzi? Try Glasgow Princes Square or Glasgow Silverburn – we’d love to see you there.”

Local residents and former patrons have shared their appreciation for the service and meals provided, and the closure marks the end of an era for the West End’s restaurant scene.

The area remains home to many other eateries, and new dining options are always emerging to keep Glasgow’s food community busy.
