THE DECADE has started positively for the Orinsen team as Chairman Eric Young was awarded the Business Leadership Award at the 7th annual Scottish Property Awards held in Edinburgh last night.

The award, which is sponsored by Bank of Scotland and judged by a panel of property industry peers recognises those who have made a significant business contribution to the industry in Scotland.

Eric’s 45 year career began as a trainee at Graham and Sibbald in Inverness, which then lead him to founding Eric Young and Co in 1983 in the back room of 58 George Street. Over the course of the next three decades, Eric Young and Co expanded their services into a business of 35 staff based in Edinburgh operating throughout the British Isles.

Eric Young, Chairman of Orinsen commented: “It is a real honour to be recognised by a judging panel of peers in the property and business communities for this Award. I find it hard to believe that it really was 45 years ago that I was setting out in my property career, but I am pleased to say that it is not over yet! To run a successful business in the property industry has not been without challenges, and particularly in the last decade or so it has been very tough as markets have restricted everywhere, but the sector and its people have evolved and I remain proud of all that my colleagues and I achieved.

“I am particularly proud of the success that colleagues and I achieved with Eric Young & Company and as I look to a new chapter in my own career with Orinsen, it is very positive to see the reception and interest that this new business has received in the market by peers and clients alike.”

In December 2019, Eric stood down from the business he founded and joined former colleagues Andy Bain, Tom Forster and Anna Hansen to launch Orinsen in January 2020.  Young is the Chairman of the dynamic new agency, which is already causing a stir in the property market in Scotland and beyond. Its vision is to inject an innovative and entrepreneurial approach to the commercial property market in Scotland and beyond

The Orinsen team focus on a number of core areas in the retail and mixed-use commercial markets initially, with the expectation that this will broaden into wider markets in the future.  With a proven track record for delivery, the agency structure offers greater agility for delivery with a sharp focus on strategy and maximising assets in the long term.

All four partners previously worked at Eric Young & Co for a number of years. Eric Young founded the company in 1983 and both Andy Bain and Tom Forster worked with him for 28 and 13 years respectively. Anna Hansen joined in 2017, working closely with Bain and Forster in the retail and leisure sectors. A new graduate has also joined the team with another planned for later this year.
