WYLIE & Bisset, Accountants and Business Advisers, has beaten a number of national and international accountancy practices to secure first place in a Department for Education tender to provide funding assurance work over the next four years.

The win follows the firm being named last year as the sole independent Scottish accountancy practice to be awarded slots on the prestigious Department for Education framework, marking the first time the framework has opened itself up from dominance by the larger national accountancy firms.

Graham Gillespie, partner at Wylie & Bisset, said: “The four firms shortlisted from the framework to provide funding assurance work were ourselves, PwC, Mazars and RSM, so for an independent accountancy firm of our size to be ranked in first place ahead of such well-known national and international practices really does speak volumes about our capabilities.”

“Winning this tender shows that we are considered as one of the main players in the delivery of audit and assurance services to the college, academy and school sectors in England.”

“Having built our client base over the last two decades, this latest win illustrates that we are recognised by the Department for Education as fully able to compete head-to-head with the larger national and international firms and win through our delivery of specialist services from a partner-led senior management team.”

The contract guarantees that Wylie & Bisset will be awarded funding assurance assignments from the Department for Education framework, with work scheduled to start next month.
