Wbg, one of Scotland’s leading independent specialist full-service accountants, has promoted Shehzad Ashaq, from associate partner to partner in its tax team.

Ashaq, who previously won the Rising Star in Business category at the Scottish Asian & Business Awards, has a broad range of experience in corporate and personal tax and specialises in tax planning and compliance advice to entrepreneurs and the SME market.

He advises on a wide range of issues including property transactions, acquisitions and disposal structuring, capital allowances, R&D tax relief and tax advantaged share schemes.

Commenting on his promotion, Ashaq said: “I’m delighted to become a partner in our burgeoning tax team offering specialist personal, corporate, and entrepreneurial tax services to our expanding client base, enabling them to focus on what matters, whether that means growing their business, developing benefits for employees, enhancement of personal wealth, considering business succession or passing on wealth to the next generation.”

Allan Dowie, Wbg CEO, added: “I’m pleased to announce Shehzad’s promotion to partner level, which is richly deserved given the dedication and hard work he provides on behalf of his clients in this critical service line.

“At Wbg we are committed to career development and investment to ensure we are an employer of choice that attracts and retains talent.”
