THERE are two weeks left to enter the 25th annual Deloitte UK Technology Fast 50 awards, with Scotland-based technology companies encouraged to apply.
The awards rank and recognise the 50 fastest growing technology companies across the UK, based on the last four years of revenue growth. Multiverse and Oracle NetSuite sponsor this year’s awards.
Since 1998, the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 awards have showcased an increasingly innovative and diverse range of UK-based technology companies. Last year’s cohort of Fast 50 companies generated cumulative revenues of £2.92 billion in 2020/21, an impressive average growth rate of 3,337% and employed more than 19,000 people.
Two Scotland-based companies appeared in last year’s Fast 50 ranking: payments provider Modulr and resource planning platform Dayshape, both based in Edinburgh, ranked in 42nd and 37th place respectively.
Scottish companies have ranked a total of 136 times over the awards’ 25-year history, including two number one placements and a total of nine top five placements. Scottish digital travel agency and search engine Skyscanner is the most-ranked Scottish company, having appeared in the ranking for eight consecutive years between 2009 and 2016.
This year’s awards will see the launch of the new Fast 50 Women in Leadership Award, a ranking that will recognise those companies within the Technology Fast 50 that were either founded by a woman*, have a founding team comprised of at least 50% women or have a female CEO.
Gavin Hood, partner, Corporate Finance Advisory at Deloitte in Scotland commented: “The ongoing strength of the UK technology sector is a testament to the resilience and tenacity of the businesses and entrepreneurs across the country. In Scotland, the technology sector is a significant contributor to the economy and is currently experiencing a marked period of growth.
“Our annual Fast 50 awards, now in its 25th year, showcase the businesses that are making a real influence in their sectors. We look forward to viewing this year’s entries, including for our new Women in Leadership Award, which will help us to celebrate the successes of women in the technology sector.”
Andrew Bone, Co-Founder and CEO at Dayshape, which has been the regional winner for Scotland for the last three years, said: “Deloitte’s Fast 50 serves as a wonderful acknowledgement and celebration of technology companies from all over the UK that are excelling at what they do and seizing opportunities for growth. We are very proud to be amongst the many fantastic Scottish companies that have been recognised over the years, which is a testament to the hard work and dedication shown by our team.”
