TL DALLAS, the only independent insurance broker in Shetland, has contributed £500 to the Shetland Befriending Scheme. The charity provides inclusive services for vulnerable individuals of all ages, including those affected by dementia. TL Dallas celebrates its 30th anniversary and sees the donation as an alignment with the firm’s core values. The funds will support the cost of six activity sessions, enhancing the charity’s volunteer-led support services and activities.

Shetland’s exclusive independent insurance broker, TL Dallas, has made a charitable contribution of £500 to the Shetland Befriending Scheme, underlining the firm’s commitment to community engagement.

The Shetland Befriending Scheme is dedicated to assisting vulnerable individuals of all ages, including children, adults facing social isolation, and those affected by dementia. TL Dallas, celebrating its 30th anniversary, views the donation as a reflection of its core values, emphasising a collaborative approach to community welfare.

Ruth Newbold, representing TL Dallas, expressed admiration for the charity’s inclusive initiatives: “What’s great about the charity is it works with people of all ages and takes a collaborative approach to what it does – which is one of our firm’s core values.” The donation aims to support the Shetland Befriending Scheme’s various volunteer-led activities and services, contributing to the well-being of the local community.

Mairi Jamieson, the project coordinator at Shetland Befriending Scheme, highlighted the impact of TL Dallas’s contribution: “Our activity sessions give young people and adults a chance to meet other similar people with the support of their volunteer befriender.” The funds will specifically contribute to the cost of six activity sessions scheduled for this year. These sessions encompass a range of engaging activities, including climbing wall sessions, arts and crafts, baking, workshops, and outings.

Shetland Befriending Scheme focuses on three core groups, including children aged seven to 15, individuals aged 16 or over facing social isolation, and people with dementia. The charity’s holistic approach aims to address self-confidence issues, inspire emotional growth, encourage positive relationships, and provide support to those managing their own homes independently. TL Dallas’s contribution plays a crucial role in ensuring the continuation of these impactful programs.

The team at TL Dallas is known for its active involvement in supporting the local community, organising fundraising events, and making regular donations. In 2023, the firm organised a successful Gospel concert that raised over £2,000, with TL Dallas matching the amount. The funds were divided among Cancer Research, Mind Your Head, Alzheimer’s, and the Teenage Cancer Trust. The donation to the Shetland Befriending Scheme is part of TL Dallas’s ongoing commitment to making a positive difference in the community.
