Leading independent Scottish law firm Thorntons has promoted Corah Franco to partner within its private client team, marking a significant milestone in her career with the firm.
Franco joined Thorntons in October 2022 after completing her training and spending more than three years specialising in private client work. She was promoted to associate in July 2025 and now steps into the partnership, based in Dundee and serving clients across Tayside, Fife and beyond.
She advises individuals, families and business owners on a wide range of estate and succession planning matters, including the preparation of wills and powers of attorney, inheritance tax planning, asset protection, and the creation and administration of trusts. Her work spans charitable, personal injury and vulnerable persons trusts.
Franco has developed particular expertise in supporting family business owners with both personal and business succession planning, and is recognised for her ability to communicate complex legal and tax issues clearly, particularly in the context of intergenerational wealth transfer.

In addition to her core work, Franco specialises in executry administration, including cross-border estates. She frequently advises on Scottish forced heirship rules and the impact of religious considerations, bringing technical expertise that is increasingly in demand as estates span multiple jurisdictions.
An accredited member of the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners (STEP), she is also a Notary Public, enabling her to authenticate, certify and witness legal documents for use both in the UK and internationally.
