Begbies Traynor Group has appointed Thomas McKay as managing partner for Scotland and Northern Ireland as part of a new leadership structure designed to support the firm’s continued expansion.

McKay, a senior restructuring specialist who has been with the business for more than two decades, takes over from long-standing managing partner Ken Patullo, who steps back into a partner role after leading the Scottish operation for over ten years.

The financial and property advisory group, which has offices in Aberdeen, Belfast, Dundee, Edinburgh, Inverness and Glasgow, said the change forms part of a broader restructuring of its UK leadership team. Mark Fry has been appointed chief executive of Begbies Traynor Group and will oversee the integration of the company’s portfolio of financial advisory firms nationwide.

Commenting on the appointments, Fry said: “We have a very experienced and talented team underpinned by a strong culture that Ric Traynor has built over more than 30 years. Thomas is ideally placed to lead the business in Scotland and Northern Ireland at what is an exciting time. His experience and expertise will be invaluable as the firm moves towards its next stage of growth.”

Reflecting on his appointment, McKay said: “The firm has expanded significantly over the last twenty years, not only in our restructuring and insolvency services but also across other areas of business advisory work, including our debt and property advisory businesses through Eddisons.

“The new board structure will allow us to better integrate these operations and drive further growth in Scotland and Northern Ireland. We remain the market leader in insolvency and restructuring in Scotland, and continue to focus on supporting individuals and companies experiencing financial distress.”
