The Princess Royal recently visited Hebridean luxury organic spa brand ishga, headquartered on the Isle of Lewis.

The visit was part of a wider programme of community engagements on the Western Isles for Her Royal Highness.

The Princess Royal’s visit provided an opportunity for ishga to demonstrate the business’s growth.

During the visit Malcolm Macrae, Joanna Macrae, Martin Macleod, Evelyn Macleod & Leon Trayling greeted The Princess Royal in the recently refurbished reception area of the two-floor premises on the Glenn Seileach Business Park in Stornoway.

The visit included a discussion about the history of seaweed on the island, its potent skincare benefits and how ishga sustainably harvests this unique ingredient from the pure pristine waters of the islands.

Exploring the manufacturing side of the business, Her Royal Highness saw the production process and was invited to add the unique seaweed extract into a batch of ishga’s Anti-oxidant Marine Cream.

Elsewhere, The Princess Royal was shown ishga’s unique candle collection created in partnership with The Dorchester hotel in London and a special oil co-created with Coworth Park to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Taking time to meet members of the team, she also enjoyed a Hebridean inspired lunch. On departure, Her Royal Highness signed the visitors book and was presented with a posey by Martin and Evelyn’s daughter Isabelle (aged 4).

“What an honour for The Princess Royal to visit isgha’s headquarters on the Isle of Lewis. It was a true highlight for the team. Huge thanks to His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the Western Isles, Mr Iain Macaulay for making this visit possible,” said Malcolm Macrae, Co-Founder, ishga.
