C&C Group has announced the appointment of Roger White as its new chief executive, effective from 20 January. This strategic move comes after a period of leadership transition for the company.

Roger White brings a wealth of experience to his new role:

  • Over two decades of board-level experience
  • Chief Executive of AG Barr from 2002 to May 2024
  • Senior management positions at Rank Hovis McDougall Group from 1987 to 2002
  • Current non-executive director at Warburtons and chair of the Beatson Cancer Charity
  • Previous roles include senior independent director at Troy Income and Growth Trust (2014-2024) and non-executive director at William Jackson Food Group (2019-2024).

Ralph Findlay, who has been serving in an interim capacity, will return to his role as non-executive chair following a brief transition period after White’s arrival

Findlay expressed confidence in the appointment, stating: “I am delighted to announce our recruitment of Roger and look forward to welcoming him to C&C and to the Board.

“An acknowledged high calibre leader, he will bring an exceptional combination of extensive branded drinks sector expertise, understanding of our markets and a proven track record of delivery.”

White’s remuneration package includes:

  • Annual base salary of £650,000
  • Pension allowance of 5% of salary
  • Benefit allowance of 7.5% of salary
  • Maximum annual bonus opportunity of 125% of salary
  • One-off grant of 150% of base salary upon appointment, with performance objectives linked to shareholder value creation.

White said: “C&C has a unique business model, great brands and a committed team, with the potential to create significant long-term value – I look forward to working with the board and the wider team to lead C&C through the next phase of its development.”

C&C Group’s portfolio includes well-known brands such as Tennent’s, Magners, Bulmers, Heverlee, Menabrea, and Orchard Pig.

The company has recently faced challenges, including accounting issues related to a software upgrade that resulted in significant financial impact.

This appointment marks a new chapter for C&C Group as it seeks to leverage White’s extensive industry experience to drive future growth and address recent operational challenges.
