Arbroath-based audio-visual specialist Streamtec is on track to achieve a record-breaking £6 million turnover, driven by new client wins and the extension of key partnerships with Scottish universities.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the company has grown from a small team of three to 22 employees, delivering bespoke AV and video conferencing solutions across the UK. Founded in 2004 by Ian McMillan OBE, who remains chair, Streamtec has established itself as a leader in the sector, securing multimillion-pound contracts with both private and public sector clients.

Streamtec has solidified its position as a trusted AV provider for Scottish universities. The University of St Andrews has extended its partnership for another five years, while the University of Aberdeen and the University of Dundee are now in their second consecutive five-year contracts. Robert Gordon University is currently in its third renewal phase with the firm.

Managing director Ian Gauld, who joined the company a decade ago, highlighted the firm’s rapid growth and adaptability: “The last five years have been transformational for Streamtec. We have grown significantly while evolving to meet the increasing demand for AV solutions such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom rooms, interactive setups, and large-scale LED video walls.

“From our landmark single-source university contracts to our commitment to sustainability, we are focused on leading the shift towards energy-efficient, eco-conscious solutions.”

Beyond higher education, Streamtec’s client portfolio includes major organisations such as GlaxoSmithKline, The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, the National Museum of Scotland, Apex Hotels, and the NHS. The company continues to expand, reinforcing its position as a key player in Scotland’s AV and digital conferencing industry.
