The Director of Glasgow’s iconic St. Enoch Centre, George Reader, has been shortlisted for the Large Venue Manager of the Year Award at the national SCEPTRE Awards.

Celebrating excellence across all areas of the British retail destination management sector, the SCEPTRE awards are considered the highest of accolades for those in the industry.

The most coveted award of the night, SCEPTRE’s Manager of the Year – Large Venue, recognises proven best practices by a manager of a retail destination, retail park or mall outlet that is over 450,001 square feet in size.

George Reader, who joined St. Enoch Centre in 2023, is one of eight finalists vying for the illustrious title.

A retail management veteran, Reader has delivered exceptional results for the

895,000 sq ft venue in the last 12 months. Having grown sales by 22% and footfall by 6% despite a challenging economic backdrop, he stands in a strong position to take the crown.

The SCEPTRE nomination is a testament to George’s unwavering commitment to excellence.

Having overseen 16 new openings, including big-name brands Wagamama and Glasgow’s first Wingstop, he has secured major signings for the year ahead, signalling a prosperous future for St. Enoch Centre.

George Reader, St. Enoch Centre Director, said of being shortlisted:

“I am honoured to be shortlisted for this SCEPTRE award, which recognises the very best practice in centre management today.

“Over the year, St. Enoch Centre has achieved remarkable milestones, including 12 lease renewals, a 10% growth in commercialisation income and crucially, £50,000 raised for local charities.

“This nomination is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone who works to make St. Enoch Centre such a vibrant and successful venue.

“Regardless of the outcome on the night, I am immensely proud to have been considered for the accolade and will continue to strive for excellence.”
