Dundee-founded retail technology business Snappy Group has been named among the UK’s fastest-growing private companies after securing a place in the inaugural Sunday Times Scotland Fast 50.

The recognition comes as the company passes a major milestone of 20 million customer orders through its Snappy Shopper platform, helping generate more than £500 million in retailer sales to date.

Launched in 2017 as a rapid grocery delivery marketplace, Snappy Group has grown into a leading force in convenience retail technology. The business now operates across three divisions: Snappy Shopper, its on-demand delivery platform; Snappy Technologies, providing white-label and order aggregation solutions; and Snappy Media, its retail media arm.

Today, more than 2,000 convenience stores across hundreds of towns and cities partner with the platform, using its technology to expand their reach and better serve local communities.

The scale of the company’s growth is reflected in its latest milestone. Twenty million grocery orders equate to approximately 100,000 tonnes of shopping – roughly the weight of 17 Eiffel Towers. At an average delivery time of 45 minutes, completing that volume of orders consecutively would take more than 1,700 years, while printed receipts placed end-to-end would stretch around 4,000 kilometres – the distance from London to Cairo.

Mike Callachan, CEO of Snappy Group, said: “Processing 20 million orders is an incredible milestone for our business and represents 20 million occasions where local retailers have been able to serve their communities through technology. Every order reflects the trust placed in our platform by both retailers and customers and we’re incredibly proud of the impact we’ve helped create.

“To be recognised in the inaugural Sunday Times Scotland Fast 50 is a fantastic achievement for everyone at Snappy. We’ve grown from a Dundee start-up into a business supporting thousands of retailers across the UK, but our ambition remains the same: help convenience retailers embrace technology, compete in a digital world and continue serving their local communities. We’re proud of how far we’ve come and we’re even more excited about what comes next.”

The Fast 50 list celebrates Scotland’s most dynamic private companies, spotlighting businesses achieving rapid growth at scale. Snappy Shopper’s inclusion marks another significant step in its evolution from a local start-up to a major player in the UK retail technology sector.
