A SIXTH member of the family law team at Balfour+Manson has been accredited as a specialist in the field by the Law Society of Scotland.

Jamie Foulis joins colleagues Shona Smith, Linda Walker, Iain Thomson, Kirsten Knight and Anne McTaggart, who have already been recognised for their skill in family law.

Kirsten and Anne are based in the firm’s Aberdeen office, with the other four at head office in Frederick Street, Edinburgh.

Shona Smith, Head of Family Law at Balfour+Manson, said: “The focus of our family law team is simple; total professionalism and consistent high quality to deliver the best possible service to our clients who are undergoing challenges in their lives. There are very few firms in Scotland with as many accredited family law specialists and we are committed to putting more of our team through the accreditation process in future.”

The Family Law team at Balfour+Manson is also one of the early adopters in Scotland of Settify, a new web tool that allows clients to get personalised information about the law that applies to their circumstances. Shona Smith was one of a group of family lawyers in Scotland who collaborated to ensure that Settify – originally developed in Australia – was adapted effectively to suit the Scottish market. She said: “Settify is a great tool and just another example of our efforts to make things easier for our clients.”

Balfour+Manson holds a highly-regarded family law conference to bring practitioners up to speed with the latest developments in the field. The 19th annual conference is on Monday 27th April 2020 at Perth Racecourse.
