SEVERAL streets in the centre of Inverness have been shut down following a burst water main which led to the formation of a minor sinkhole.

Highland Council has announced the closure of these streets due to worries regarding additional dangers posed to a stretch of road on Bridge Street. Bridge Street, High Street, and Castle Street were closed from 19:00 yesterday (Aug 8th).

Highland Council said it could take Scottish Water three days to repair the water main.

A council spokesman said: “All parties are working together to try and minimise disruption, but some disruption is inevitable. We apologise for any inconvenience and aim to have the road reopened as soon as possible.”
