Shoosmiths has added further to its talent pipeline in Scotland with a total of 15 new recruits attracted to its Edinburgh and Glasgow offices over the past six months.
Corporate, real estate, employment, dispute resolution and litigation have all added headcount to their legal teams to service an impressive national and international blue-chip client base.
Led by Alison Gilson, head of the Edinburgh office, three new associates have joined her corporate team, that in 2023 advised on over 40 separate transactions and recorded deals totalling over £800 million.
Alice Gray, Sylwia Jakuczun and Julide Cevher join the Scottish operation that UK-wide is the most active law firm advising on mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and venture capital (VC) transactions.
The team’s growing reputation is further underlined by its shortlisting for Corporate Law Firm of the Year and PE/VC Transaction of the Year at the Insider Scotland Dealmaker Awards next month.
Alison is also shortlisted for Corporate Lawyer of the Year and her colleague Jen Paton for Corporate Rising Star of the Year category in the forthcoming Legal 500 Scotland Awards.
Catriona Fowlie is one of several of the new appointments who trained at Shoosmiths. She has joined the fast-growing employment team in Edinburgh, working with colleagues including Samantha Mackie, an employment and discrimination law specialist and recently named Rising Star of the Year at the Scottish Legal Awards.
In the early summer, Seonaid Sandham joined the dispute resolution and litigation team as a senior associate based in the Edinburgh office. Across the M8, Iain Campbell has completed his traineeship with the firm to join the Glasgow office as a solicitor.
Led by partner Andrew Foyle, three paralegals have also been onboarded to the team.
In real estate, Shoosmiths in Scotland has an enviable track record and advises the likes of major developers, house builders and investors within the Living sector.
Barry McKeown, head of the Glasgow office has added four junior roles to the real estate team that includes senior associate Rachel Munro.
She is shortlisted for Real Estate Rising Star of the Year at the Legal 500 Scotland Awards next month.

Two new trainees, Katie Hindle and Yusuf Qureshi have also joined Shoosmiths in Scotland. Working across the Edinburgh and Glasgow offices, they are gaining invaluable legal experience in a range of divisions, including corporate, banking, employment, dispute resolution and litigation and real estate.
They can also apply for external secondments to work with Shoosmiths’ commercial clients throughout the UK.
