THE Inverness office of Shepherd Chartered Surveyors has been crowned the ‘Office of the Year’ for 2023 at the firm’s annual review seminar. The prestigious accolade is bestowed annually by the firm’s management partners, with criteria ranging from exceptional customer service and market share to commendable financial performance.

Ian Fergusson, senior partner at Shepherd, shared insights into the keenly contested competition, stating, “our annual Office of the Year competition is always a hotly-contested affair, and this year proved to be no exception.” The judging panel meticulously evaluated various factors, ultimately shortlisting Edinburgh commercial, Dumfries, and Inverness. However, it was the Inverness office that emerged triumphant, securing the accolade and earning well-deserved bragging rights.

The success of the Inverness office can be attributed to an outstanding year marked by significant achievements. Fergusson highlighted, “Inverness prevailed to beat the others and win the accolade and the bragging rights following an exceptional year.” Notable accomplishments included the addition of a new partner, successful integration of a new regional office in Oban, and robust growth that surpassed set targets.

Presenting the award to the triumphant Inverness partners—Gregor Simpson, Neil Calder, and the newly appointed Ross MacDonald—Ian Fergusson underscored the significance of their accomplishments. The passing of the shield from the previous year’s winners, the Perth office led by Jon Thomson, symbolised the nature of excellence within the Shepherd Chartered Surveyors network.

Originating in Scotland in 1880, Shepherd Chartered Surveyors has evolved into a powerhouse with a network of 39 offices. The firm, boasting over 250 staff, offers a multi-disciplinary property service. Notably, Shepherd places a strong emphasis on its graduate and trainee recruitment program, recognising the pivotal role of training in shaping the next generation and ensuring the continued success of the business.

The accolades for Shepherd Chartered Surveyors extend beyond the ‘Office of the Year’ award. The firm was named Surveying Firm of the Year for four consecutive years, from 2019 to 2022, at the Scottish Mortgage Awards. This consistent recognition underscores the firm’s commitment to excellence and leadership in the dynamic and competitive field of surveying.
