Global beauty retailer Sephora has confirmed opening dates for its first two Scottish stores, promising a high‑energy “Sephora summer” as the brand finally lands north of the Border. The company will debut at Edinburgh’s St James Quarter on Thursday 9 July, followed by a second site at Glasgow’s Silverburn Shopping Centre on Thursday 13 August.
The twin launch marks Sephora’s first move into Scotland, arriving three years after it opened its inaugural UK outlet in London. The French‑founded business now operates thousands of stores worldwide alongside a major e‑commerce platform, making the Scottish openings a notable milestone in its wider UK expansion.
Sephora has framed its UK store launches as buzzy, community‑driven moments rather than straightforward ribbon‑cuttings. The Edinburgh and Glasgow debuts are expected to follow that playbook, with entertainment, food and curated queue experiences designed to turn opening day into an event.
The new stores will bring a host of in‑demand brands to Scottish high streets, including social‑media‑favourite labels and Sephora’s own‑label ranges. For many beauty fans, the launches will remove the need to travel to England or rely solely on online orders to access these products.
Both sites are also expected to feature Sephora’s latest in‑store digital tools, designed to support staff in offering tailored product recommendations. By blending technology with human advice, the retailer aims to create a more personalised experience than traditional beauty hall formats.
In Edinburgh, the arrival of Sephora is being positioned as a significant moment for St James Quarter and the city’s retail scene. The destination has invested heavily in fashion and beauty and sees landing a global beauty heavyweight as further validation of its strategy.
Glasgow’s Silverburn centre is similarly treating the August opening as a coup for the west of Scotland. The addition of Sephora is expected to strengthen its appeal as a one‑stop hub for beauty, lifestyle and fashion, tapping into pent‑up demand from shoppers who have followed the brand’s UK return online.
Sarah Boyd, Sephora UK managing director said:“This summer marks a major milestone in Sephora UK’s journey as we continue to bring out unique beauty experience to more communities across the country.
“We’re incredibly excited to be opening our first stores in Scotland, giving beauty lovers access to some of the world’s most sought-after brands and exclusive products for the very first time.
In Case You Missed It:
“We can’t wait to welcome customers through our doors and celebrate what promises to be a true Sephora summer.”
The two Scottish flagships will open alongside a new wave of smaller boutique‑format sites planned for London, signalling a twin focus on destination stores and more compact urban locations. The approach underlines Sephora’s ambition to build a genuinely national footprint rather than a London‑centric presence.
For Scotland’s retail and beauty sectors, the summer openings will be watched closely as a test of appetite for international brands in physical locations at a time of shifting consumer habits. Strong performance in Edinburgh and Glasgow could lay the groundwork for further Scottish locations over the coming years.
