SCOTTISH legal firm Anderson Strathern has appointed Jemma Richardson as a Director in its Residential Property team following unprecedented growth in business.
Richardson joins the firm from well-known property outfit Simpson & Marwick, strengthening Anderson Strathern’s offering in Edinburgh and East Lothian. She’ll work alongside the Head of Residential Property, Sara Jalicy, and Head of East Lothian Operations, Graham White.
Richardson has extensive expertise in the premier residential property market, having represented a wide variety of individuals and commercial clients in residential sale and purchase transactions over the last decade.

Both Jalicy and Richardson are past winners of the Rising Star Award at the Scottish Legal Awards and now have the opportunity to combine their skills in further boosting Anderson Strathern’s residential property team, which gives its clients access to other specialist services including private client, financial planning and asset management.
The team also works in tandem with the firm’s market-leading Rural Land & Business team while also offering residential clients a full conveyancing service. The Residential Property team’s wide ranging client base spans across Scotland, the UK and worldwide, with both revenue and market share having grown year on year since Jalicy took over the helm in June 2014.
In December, Anderson Strathern reported increased revenue for the year to 31st August 2019 of £24.4 million (2018: £22.8m) with profits up 28 per cent to £8.9 million (2018: £6.9m). In November, the firm announced a partnership with award-winning legal tech startup Amiqus while also investing in the company’s latest investment round via AS Capital which is a member of Equity Gap’s angel syndicate.
In June, Anderson Strathern – whose client base also includes the Scottish Government, INEOS, Buccleuch Estates, Glasgow City Council and Apex Hotels – was selected as the first Scottish legal firm by the Meritas global network which numbers over 180 law firms from over 90 countries worldwide.
In October, specialist Glasgow-headquartered law practice Hardy Macphail merged with Anderson Strathern, enabling the firm to expand its SME base. Alongside the Hardy Macphail deal, Anderson Strathern is doubling the size of its Glasgow base at George Square.
