SCOTTISH law firm Thorntons partner Scott Milne has been appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant for the County of Angus.

This role is deputy to the Lord-Lieutenant of Angus, who is the representative of the Crown in Angus.

The Lord-Lieutenant’s role is, like the Monarch’s, non-political and seeks to promote a spirit of co-operation by encouragement of the voluntary sector and benevolent organisations, and by taking an active interest in the business, industrial and social life of the area.

Local to Angus, this appointment is in recognition of Scott’s reputation and influence in the area.

Lesley Larg, managing partner, Thorntons, said: “We warmly congratulate Scott on his appointment as a Deputy Lieutenant for the County of Angus.

“It is a great honour to have someone chosen from the firm for this role, and it reflects the deep roots that our people have in our local communities.”

Scott, who specialises in commercial litigation and dispute resolution, is based in the firm’s Angus and Dundee offices. A former joint managing partner of Thorntons, his legal career has spanned more than 30 years.
