There is just a week left for female-led Scottish businesses to apply for an innovative growth grant being offered by the Scottish Growth Summit.

Five businesses are set to receive the package of support which is designed to help them deliver successful, growth-generating events, from new business gatherings and creative workshops to community events.

Applications for the innovative grant must be submitted by Friday 13 December.

The grant winners will receive support with finances, promotion and organisation for their event, all delivered by the team behind The Scottish Growth Summit – an enterprise led by female entrepreneurs, for female entrepreneurs.

The Scottish Growth Summit was founded in 2023 by three west of Scotland entrepreneurs, Laura Maginess, Heather Offord and Claire Baillie who have joined forces to create a movement that supports and empowers female business owners and entrepreneurs across Scotland.

Laura Maginess is the multi-award-winning founder of Glasgow Girls Club and The Glow Club business membership who has built a vibrant online community that connects over 46,000 women from Glasgow and beyond. Founder of Star Consultancy, Clare Baillie has over 20 years of experience in HR, and administration having worked across a diverse range of sectors, including utilities, pharmaceuticals, retail, and food and drink manufacturing.

Third co-founder Heather Offord is an industry thought leader, award-winning business growth specialist, and expert in creating unique Growth Roadmaps and mastering Personal Branding, with over 20 years of experience in the Sales, Marketing & Events Industry.

Heather, who is Director of Clarity Consultants, said: “We know how daunting it can as a business owner to run events – especially if it’s your first time – so we wanted to offer some support to business owners who are keen to run events but just need that extra push to jump in and do it.”

Laura commented: “Through these grants we’ll be providing some financial support, but just as importantly, we’ll be supporting the promotion and organisation of the events by using our platforms and experience to make it as stress-free as possible for the business owners.”

“We’re already looking ahead to our next Scottish Growth Summit in 2025 and with almost half of the tickets sold already, it’s going to be another great event,” Clare added.

The One-Off Event Growth Grant includes £100 towards event costs, promotion of the event across multiple social media channels, and in-person support from one of the Scottish Growth Summit founders at the event itself.

Businesses must submit an application by 13 December 2024 and ensure their planned event is a new event that is not already on sale and will be held before 15 April 2025 – the date of the next Scottish Growth Summit in Glasgow.

Winners will be announced on Monday 16 December.
