COMMENTING on latest HMRC statistics released today Trade Minister Ivan McKee said:

“These latest HMRC trade statistics show that in the first six months of 2022, Scotland has again outperformed the UK with international goods exports up 12.9% when excluding oil and gas, compared to the first six months of 2019. Over the same period the UK as a whole saw a 0.5% decrease.

“Goods exports to the EU grew by 20.4% in this period (excluding oil and gas), further underlining the importance of EU markets to Scottish businesses.

“These statistics show our Export Growth Plan is undoubtedly working to offset the barriers we face as a result of the UK leaving the EU.

“The Scottish Government will continue to focus on economic recovery following the pandemic, through our National Strategy for Economic Transformation.”
