Glasgow-based inclusion specialist Chris Allan is launching a new business network to help Scottish employers prepare for changing workplace responsibilities and manage difficult people issues more confidently.
From 30 October, employers may be liable when a worker is harassed by a customer, client, contractor or member of the public unless the employer can show that it took all reasonable steps to prevent the harassment.
Workplace+ Connect has been created for business owners, managers, HR professionals and people leaders who want practical support without corporate jargon, lengthy lectures or an expectation that they already have all the answers.
The first Workplace+ Connect event will take place in Glasgow just ten days before new third-party harassment provisions come into force.
The event will combine informal networking with an update on important workplace developments and a focused practical session. The first session will examine what the harassment law changes mean for employers and the steps organisations should be considering now.
Chris Allan, founder of Your D+I and Workplace+ , said:
“Too many organisations wait until they have an ‘oh sh*t’ moment before asking whether their managers, policies and processes are actually prepared.
“Smaller employers in particular may not have a large HR team sitting behind them, but they still face complex workplace situations and changing responsibilities.
“Workplace+ Connect is about bringing people together to learn, have honest conversations and leave with something useful. It isn’t another room full of corporate buzzwords and awkward networking. We want to build a genuinely supportive Scottish business community.”
The forthcoming legislation will extend employer liability beyond harassment committed by colleagues. It could apply to incidents involving customers, service users, suppliers, contractors and other third parties encountered through work.Sectors involving regular public contact, including hospitality, retail, healthcare, transport, events and professional services, may face particular challenges.
Chris added:
“A policy sitting unread on a shared drive will not automatically protect an organisation or its people. Employers need to think about the risks their workers actually face, how concerns are reported, whether managers know how to respond and what preventative action is reasonable in their particular workplace.
“This isn’t about creating fear. It is about helping employers act before poor behaviour becomes a grievance, an absence, a resignation or a tribunal claim.”
Your D+I was founded in 2020. Over the past six years, the multi-award-winning inclusion consultancy has supported more than 200 organisations and delivered training to over 8,000 people.
Workplace+ represents the next stage of that work, providing employers with practical resources, workshops, expert support and a community focused on preventing workplace problems rather than simply reacting to them.
The first Workplace+ Connect event will take place from 9:30 am until 11:30 am on Tuesday 20 October 2026 at The Boardwalk, 105 Brunswick St, Glasgow G1 1TF
Tickets cost £27 and are available from
