SUPPORT in Mind Scotland, (SiMS) the award-winning mental health charity which provides support and services to over 1,300 people a week affected by mental illness, including families, friends and carers, has been appointed Charity Partner of the Year by Edinburgh business networking club, Love Your Business.

SiMS, which has more than 40 years expertise in mental health and runs 25 services across Scotland, including the Stafford Centre in Edinburgh, the Mental Health and Money Advice Service, and also convenes the National Rural Mental Health Forum, will take over the reins from last year’s charity partner, Make2ndsCount, which is Scotland’s only secondary breast cancer charity.

Love Your Business was founded in 2018 by Michelle Brown, who launched Michelle Brown PR in 2014 after 14 years with one of the UK’s largest independent communications agencies working on major UK-wide clients, including M&S, Geox and Premier Inn.

The networking club, which is held on the last Thursday of every month at Black Ivy in Bruntsfield, is designed to help businesses at all stages and sizes build their network and also hear from inspiring entrepreneurs, including Mike Welch, founder of and Marie Owen, founder of LS Productions, and this year in May, the developer of Minecraft, Chris van der Kuyl.

Colin Leslie, Fundraising and Communications Manager, said: “Support in Mind Scotland is proud and excited to be the Charity Partner of Love Your Business in 2020.

“This is one of the most vibrant networking groups in the country, always bursting with creativity, shared knowledge, support and inspiring speakers.

“It is particularly pleasing to see that Michelle Brown and the team have recognised how important mental health is to us all, in life and in business, and we look forward to working closely with Love Your Business and its network of contacts throughout the year.”

Michelle Brown, founder of Love Your Business said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Support in Mind Scotland this year as our Charity of the Year and really looking forward to working with them to help raise awareness of the fantastic work they are doing with people affected by mental illness and donating £2 from every ticket sale throughout the year.

“We were honoured to have one of their ambassadors, Scottish rugby legend Scott Hastings, as a guest speaker last year who talked about having a positive mindset in business and also his 100 Streets Challenge with his wife Jenny which they started in 2017, to raise awareness of mental health and the benefits of physical exercise, which we are looking forward to taking part in this year.”

Love Your Business also runs a series of Skills Labs at Black Ivy on topics including video creation, branding, LinkedIn, Instagram and digital content marketing, with the first one this year on the 10th March, entitled “Business Brand Building with PR”.  Tickets for the 3hr workshop are £35 plus booking fee at with £2 from every ticket going to Support in Mind Scotland.
