Glasgow’s Social Hub is getting set to welcome the movers and shakers of Scotland’s entrepreneurial ecosystem in a spectacular display of founding talent at the AccelerateHER Showcase, later this month.
Taking place from 12.30 – 4.30pm on Wednesday 12 March, the event will feature a recorded Ministerial Address from Depute First Minister, Kate Forbes; fireside chats with Pathways Forward Chair, Ana Stewart; and live pitching from 16 talented women founders.
Designed to champion the next generation of female founders, the event is enabled by the Scottish Government’s Pathways Fund, which was designed to help people from under-represented groups to become entrepreneurs, with a particular focus on supporting women and implementing the recommendations made by Ana Stewart and Mark Logan’s Pathways Report.
The event is also sponsored by the Scottish National Investment Bank, Scotland’s development investment bank delivering patient capital to businesses and projects across the country.
After kicking off with the Ministerial Address, attendees will be treated to an afternoon of live pitches delivered by some of Scotland’s most innovative female founders, with Q&A delivered by the audience and panel of experts.
There will also be fireside chats hosted by AccelerateHER’s CEO, Elizabeth Pirrie, welcoming guests such as Chief Investment Officer at the Scottish National Investment Bank, Mark Munro; Chair of Pathways Forward, Ana Stewart; and closing remarks by Founder of both AccelerateHER and investment syndicate Investing Women Angels, Jackie Waring.
The event comes at a topical moment, with Kate Forbes stating last month that “Supporting women-led businesses to realise their full potential is an economic imperative”, a sentiment that has regularly been echoed by AccelerateHER’s own CEO Elizabeth Pirrie.
As an initial signatory of the Pathways Pledge, AccelerateHER is part of the ecosystem’s collective effort to tangibly shift the dial for women in business, through actionable steps which are monitored and reported annually.
Founded over a decade ago to accelerate and amplify the success of female founders, the organisation has also this year planned and delivered 35 learning and networking events for entrepreneurs across the UK, including the delivery of Female Founder Accelerator Powered by Barclays Eagle Labs Funded by UK Government, a nine-week programme for 100 women founders which culminates this month.
There are a few tickets remaining for the AccelerateHER showcase. Tickets are free, but registration is required. For more information and to secure yours, visit accelerateher.co.uk/events
