AN energy service ROV firm has staked its claim in Scotland with a number of executive hires across its business in Edinburgh.

Rovco, which provides subsea remotely-operated vehicle (ROV) services, said it has now brought its total headcount to 50, across its new Scottish office and its headquarters in Bristol.

The firm said last year it would use a bumper £10.5m sales year to build a new Scottish facility and create up to 20 jobs.

Simon Miller, who has previously worked for Oceaneering International, comes in as general manager of Rovco Scotland, while Ian Bryan joins the company as consultant chief operating officer.

Reena Rowan has been appointed as chief financial officer.

Brian Allen, chief executive of Rovco, said: “The announcements today are a further milestone in Rovco’s development as we become the premier provider of artificial intelligence-based technology and robotic services.

“We now have a strong executive team with the experience and capabilities to fulfil our vision.

“We are looking to hire additional top class sales and project talent as our exponential growth continues and we prepare to take advantage of opportunities through these current market difficulties.”

Launching in 2016, Rovco has found the UK offshore wind sector to account for more than 67% of its income stream, with the remainder made up of oil and gas and government grants.

Rovco has been awarded work on 30% of all UK wind projects since 2016, and is tendering for a further 19%.

It also aims to provide its automation technology to North Sea oil and gas firms.
