A VIRTUAL onshore wind seminar is set to bring together some of the country’s leading voices on energy this month.
Organised by leading Scottish law firm Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie, the annual renewables seminar will put the spotlight on “driving the green recovery”.
Guests will hear from five experts from a variety of organisations, including Ventient and RES at the seminar on November 19.
Led by the firm’s Head of Renewables, Andy McFarlane, the event will cover the current state of play of the renewables industry in Scotland and explore the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
Andy McFarlane said: “This year’s COP26 may be cancelled, but that doesn’t mean that we can forget about the important issue of renewable energy for a whole year.
“Of course COVID-19 has had a profound impact on the economy, but the renewables sector has remained relatively unharmed and may be one of the areas which can help to lead a recovery from the recession.
“Investor appetite in the Scottish onshore wind market remains strong, and the market is highly competitive at the moment, with a reinvigorated developer community in the UK who are now finding themselves joined by new developers coming from abroad to get involved in the sector.
“We think it’s important that our annual seminar goes ahead as planned, and while it will look different to previous events thanks to its new virtual platform, it will provide a fantastic opportunity to hear from a panel of expert speakers and have important conversations about the future of onshore wind in Scotland.”
