Scotland’s leading relationship support charity, Relationships Scotland has announced the appointment of a new Chair. Award-winning mediation expert, Ewan Malcolm has taken over from Dianne Millen who has held the post for the last two years.
Ewan brings four decades of experience as an accomplished CEO, Chair, mediator, and conflict resolution specialist, spanning law, organisational leadership, and professional development. His expertise is grounded in academia, with a Master’s degree in Conflict Resolution and Mediation from the University of London.
A former equity partner in a leading Scottish law firm, Ewan has since held multiple senior executive roles, including Chief Executive Officer of The Relationships Service (formerly Relate London North West, Hertfordshire Mid Thames and Buckinghamshire), where he guided the charity through major organisational change, as they left Relate and became founding members of the new national body Relationships England and Wales. Between 2002 and 2009, Ewan set up the Scottish Mediation Network as its first director.
Alongside his professional career, he has contributed extensively to sector governance, serving as Chair of both the College of Mediators and the Association of Relate Centre Chief Officers as well as holding board positions with the Family Mediation Council, the New York Chapter of the Association of Conflict Resolution and several charitable trusts.
Welcoming Ewan into the post, outgoing Chair Dianne Millen said, “It has been a privilege to lead Relationships Scotland over the last two years, and I’m delighted to welcome Ewan into the post. His wealth of experience and commitment to the sector make him the ideal person to lead the charity into the next chapter.”
