BUILDING and civil engineering contractor Farrans has appointed Barry McLean as Regional Director for its civil engineering division in Scotland.

Barry joins Farrans with extensive experience in a variety of senior positions for self-performing main contractors and previously worked in his native Scotland, the Middle East and South East Asia. He will be responsible for leading multi-site project teams from pre-construction to post-construction, developing new business, engaging with clients at an early stage and regularly reviewing project status to ensure key milestones are achieved.

He will have full operational responsibility for the performance of the region, including on high profile projects such as Edinburgh Trams to Newhaven and a portfolio of multi-million pound schemes covering the marine, renewables and roads and bridges sectors. 

Farrans Construction employs more than 550 people, with offices in Belfast, London, Cambridge and Edinburgh, with further site offices connecting its regional network. The company’s civils division is associated with some of the most important infrastructure projects in the UK and Ireland including Edinburgh Trams to Newhaven, the East Quay development for Global Energy at the Port of Nigg and Anglian Water’s Strategic Pipeline Alliance.
