Fashion retailer Quiz has closed 23 stores across the UK and Ireland after filing for insolvency, putting approximately 200 jobs at risk.
The Glasgow-based company faced declining consumer demand and weaker-than-expected sales over the Christmas trading period, leading to financial difficulties.
In a pre-pack insolvency deal, new owners Orion acquired the brand and rescued 42 stores, but deemed 23 locations “loss-making or unsustainable,” resulting in their immediate closure.
List of Quiz Stores That Have Closed:
- Scotland: Dundee (Overgate), Falkirk (Howgate Centre), Glasgow (Forge Shopping Centre), Motherwell (Brandon Parade South)
- England: Brighton (Churchill Square), Bristol (Cribbs Causeway), Doncaster (Frenchgate Centre), Exeter (Princeshay), Fareham (Whitley), Grimsby (Freshney Place), Liverpool (South John Street), Maidstone (Fremlin Walk), Milton Keynes (Silbury Arcade), Peterborough (Queensgate), Preston (Friargate Walk), Southampton (Westquay), Swansea (Queens Arcade), Telford (Telford Shopping Centre)
- Northern Ireland: Derry (Richmond Shopping Centre), Enniskillen (Erneside Shopping Centre)
- Ireland: Athlone (Athlone Town Centre), Newbridge (Whitewater Shopping Centre), Tallaght (The Square)
Despite the closures, Orion aims to rebuild the Quiz brand with a focus on profitable locations while navigating the ongoing challenges in the retail sector.
