Purple House Clinic Glasgow announces the opening of its new specialist mental health and neurodiverse services clinic in the heart of Ayr, Ayrshire. Building on the success of its flagship Glasgow city centre clinics, this new location will provide vital support and easy to access, psychological services to people who need help the most across the West Coast of Scotland.

The Ayr clinic will offer a range of services, including neurodevelopmental assessments for autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and learning disabilities, as well as educational psychology assessments for specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia. This clinic will also offer psychological therapies for both children and adults. The expansion responds to the increasing demand for accessible, high-quality psychological support in the region and aims to reduce the pressure on long NHS waiting lists.

Launching with a team of highly skilled specialists, the clinic will look to build a multidisciplinary team to meet the ever-growing local demand for mental health support services and specialist neurodiverse assessments. Services will be delivered by an expert team, including:

  • Dr Camilla Dyer, Clinical Psychologist
  • Natalie McCarron, Speech and Language Therapist
  • Dr Karen Mackenzie, Clinical Psychologist
  • Jule Smith, Educational Psychologist and Clinical Neuropsychologist

The expansion follows a successful NHS Ayrshire contract win, enabling the clinic to offer much-needed neurodevelopmental assessments for local children. This further cements the clinic’s role in supporting the mental health and developmental needs of the local community.

Dr Michelle Muniz, Clinical Director of Purple House Clinic Glasgow, commented: “We’re delighted to bring our services to Ayrshire and it reflects our commitment to making mental health services more accessible. We’ve seen a growing number of referrals from this area, and with the current strain on NHS services, our goal is to make high-quality, specialist care more accessible and to provide early, effective support to those who need it most.

“The decision to open the clinic in Ayr was driven by a combination of factors, including high demand for services from across the West Coast and accessibility challenges for families travelling to Glasgow. By establishing a presence in Ayr, our clinic aims to provide a more convenient and localised service to those who may otherwise face barriers in accessing care, and ultimately, we can help more people receive the right diagnosis and treatment faster.

“Since 2018, we have provided individualised, accessible psychological services to adults and children across the Glasgow City Region and now we’re really excited to open a new clinic on the West Coast in close proximity to our other locations. The new Ayr clinic will initially consist of one clinic room for assessments, treatments and follow-ups, and a calm, quiet and safe space where people can feel confident in their environment,” added Michelle.

In addition to Ayr, Purple House Clinic Glasgow also has clinics across four locations, including Bath Street and Wellington Street in Glasgow city centre, Bearsden and Newton Mearns.

Purple House Clinic Ayr is located at Suite 7, Wellington House, 24 Wellington Square, Ayr, KA7 1HG.
