PLANS TO progress a significant new mixed-use development on the site of the former IBM facility at Spango Valley, Greenock, led by Advance Construction, have been submitted to Inverclyde Council.
The major planning application for the site – owned by Sandy & James Easdale and Advance Construction – has been prepared and submitted by planning and design consultancy Barton Willmore.
The application seeks Planning Permission in Principle (PPP) for a mixed-use masterplan which would include up to 450 new homes, alongside areas of new employment, leisure, community and retail use. The proposals also include a new ‘Park and Ride’ facility adjacent to IBM Rail Halt, which would see the station re-opened to the public, alongside areas of extensive greenspace, parkland and a network of new paths across the site.
The project represents a £100M investment in the local area, with approximately 130 jobs created through the construction phase and a further 300 jobs upon completion.
