MCMENON Engineering Services has made a strategic appointment as the business targets further growth in UK and international markets.

Industry expert Craig Marshall has been appointed by McMenon to the new role of product development director. He was previously a flow measurement consultant for 10 years with TUV SUD National Engineering Laboratory.

Based in Workington, McMenon, a globally-recognised manufacturer and supplier of flow and temperature measurement instrumentation, has an engineering heritage going back 70 years. Craig has been brought on board to develop McMenon products, add new ones and work with clients to solve measurement problems in their operations.

Craig, who has an MSci in Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, is a former chairman of the technical committee for the North Sea Flow Measurement Workshop and is chairman of a British Standard Institution (BSI) committee that develops and reviews flow measurement standards.

Anand Puthran, chief executive officer at McMenon, said: “The addition of someone with Craig’s level of expertise is another example of our unrelenting commitment to product quality and customer service. His arrival is a clear reflection of our plans for growth.

“Appointments such as this one are vital as we look to broaden our capability, build successful relationships and deliver across multiple markets. We are delighted to have Craig on board to help achieve our goals.”

Craig, who will be based at the company’s Glasgow office, said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the McMenon team. To be at the centre of developing McMenon products and bringing new ones to the market presents an incredibly exciting opportunity. McMenon has a first-class industry reputation for the manufacture of flow and measurement products.

“My role is to help to take the business to the next level by looking at how we can develop current and future products and the applications we offer into the market. There is huge scope for McMenon to solve complex customer issues due to our one-stop solution capabilities, in-house knowledge and our proactive approach.”

McMenon specialises in differential pressure flow meters such as orifice plates, averaging pitot tubes, wedge meters, nozzles, Venturi meters (topside and subsea) as well as variable area flow meters and temperature monitoring equipment. It also has a contract manufacturing division.

The company’s markets include the energy, nuclear, industrial, and pharmaceutical sectors. Products manufactured at McMenon’s Workington facility are used in over 50 countries.  To meet its global growth ambitions, McMenon has opened a support operation in India and recently set-up a manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia.
