Primark will open the doors to its new store in Glasgow Fort on Thursday 5th December just in time for the final festive shopping push. To mark the occasion, the new store will open with a live DJ, welcoming both new customers and loyal Primark fans.
The store will become the retailer’s 21st store in Scotland and cover 33,500 sq. ft set over two floors. The retailer has recently recruited 200 new team members ahead of the opening.
Customers will be able to shop the best-selling Primark products they know and love across clothing, kidswear, beauty, lifestyle and home. In addition to its great value ranges, the new store will include self-checkouts alongside serviced tills. Shoppers can also expect to see modern fixtures and fittings, updated signage and LED lighting, as well as new display units to better showcase its products.
Primark area manager for Scotland West & Cumbria, Gavin O’Reilly, said: “We’re looking forward to opening in just a few weeks’ time at Glasgow Fort, particularly the moment when our first customers will step through our doors. The enthusiasm is already building across the team – and it’s not just because it’s Christmas shopping season! We’re really proud of this store and what it will soon be offering our customers, from our festive favourites FamJam sets to more timeless essentials, we’re confident there will be something for the entire family to enjoy.”
Phil Goodman, centre director at Glasgow Fort, said: “The launch of Primark has been an eagerly awaited moment for many of our visitors, so we’re over the moon to finally be able to reveal that the new store will open at the beginning of December. It’s a fantastic addition to the centre and one I know will be very popular with our shoppers, who I’m sure will be very pleased it’s here just in time for Christmas. What an exciting way to draw the year to a close!”
As shoppers prepare for the opening day, Primark customers can continue to meet their immediate essential and festive shopping needs at nearby stores in Argyle Street, Sauchiehall Street and The Forge Shopping Centre. Primark’s online stock checker can also be used to check availability for their favourite styles before heading into store.
The new Glasgow Fort store will be Primark’s 195th store in the UK, and forms part of the retailer’s £100million investment in its UK store estate this year. Earlier this year, Primark opened two new Primark stores in Bury St Edmunds and Teesside Park, alongside two significant store extensions, three relocations and upgrades to more than 15 existing stores as part of its ongoing refit programme.
This comes as Primark continues to celebrate 50 years on the Great British high street, after first opening its doors in September 1974 in Derby, England. The retailer’s first store to open in Scotland was in 1975 in Hamilton, which stands on the same site today and remains Primark’s smallest store in the world.
