Historic Scotland’s largest re-enactment event returns to Fort George, outside of Inverness this weekend. The mighty Highland fortress will see over 2,000 years of Scottish history descend on Saturday, from the Picts and the Romans to 1940s swing bands, with Living History camps to explore and even a sporty twist with some special celebrations showcasing medieval games. The event will also be taking place tomorrow, Sunday 11th August from 11am – 5pm.

The event is part of Historic Environment Scotland’s, who manage the site, annual event programme. Tickets can be bought in advance online at alittlehistory.scot/celebration and are free for Historic Scotland members.

A dedicated shuttle bus will be in operation between the Airport Railway Station and Fort George between 9.30am – 5.30pm across the weekend. For more details on the event, alongside travel and parking options, please visit the Historic Environment Scotland website
