PILLOW CEO Scott Weir has been named Entrepreneur of the Year at the Scottish Ex-Forces in Business Awards.

The former Royal Navy sailor-turned-businessman scooped the prize at the awards ceremony in Glasgow on 19 August.

The awards are the world’s largest celebration of military veterans who have built second careers and recognise their achievements in their lives outside of the forces.

Scott joined the Royal Navy when he was 16 years old, enlisting in the Warfare Branch and specialising in Above Water electrical engineering.

Throughout his time in the Navy, Scott served on frigates and was based in Plymouth and Portsmouth, where he worked on radar and missile systems.

Each year, thousands of men and women leave the Armed Forces bringing their skill, experience, and training to firms and companies across the country and in many different sectors.

Pillow Partners is delighted that its founder and CEO has won such a prestigious award and thanks the judging panel for its decision.

Founded in 2016, Pillow provides expert and professional property management services to holiday homes and serviced apartments to help them reach the markets they need to and grow their businesses. For guests, Pillow works to connect them with an extensive range of properties to let both in Scotland and across the UK.

With Pillow every property, every client, and every booking work towards helping local communities, vulnerable people, and solving the most important global challenges we all face. The company has also facilitated over £1m of charity donations throughout its history.

The firm also goes a step further than others in the industry through the sophistication of its business model; helping providers maximise their income and enjoy a hands-off approach. Pillow goes far beyond simple advertising, offering a bespoke and tailored service to meet the needs of both guests and clients.

MSP for Ayr, Siobhian Brown, said:

“Congratulations to Scott on this amazing achievement.

“It is truly inspiring to hear of this success after leaving the armed forces and building such a successful company on a national scale within 5 years.”

CEO Scott Weir said:

“I am very pleased to accept this award and view it as a triumph both for myself personally and for the wonderful team I work with at Pillow.

“On behalf of our company, I’d like to thank everyone involved in putting together these important awards each and every year.

“Using the skills, knowledge, and training the gain in the forces, our veterans regularly make huge contributions to civilian life and it’s great that the Scottish Ex-Forces in Business Awards are there to acknowledge them.”
