A PERTHSHIRE building company was named the best contractor in Scotland at a gala evening in London last week hosted by Cathy Newman from Channel 4 News.

Stephen Gardiner Construction, based in Auchterarder was named Scottish Building Contractor of the Year at the Construction Awards of Excellence.

The company builds predominantly bespoke houses for families building their own homes, and they cite client involvement, honesty and professionalism as key factors in this successful process.  This is backed up by glowing client and architect testimonials. The judges were particularly impressed with the quality of the construction and the firm’s local investment.

The prestigious awards were held at Chelsea Harbour Hotel in London last week and honored the exceptional contributions of companies and individuals in the construction and building sector across the UK.

Other finalists were Muir Construction (Inverkeithing, Fife), Thomas Johnstone (Inchinnan, Renfrewshire) and Richard M MacKenzie (Tain, Highlands).

Commenting on winning the ward, Stephen Gardiner, said: “Winning this award is a recognition of how hard our team has worked through a very difficult period for us all. We are just a small business in Auchterarder but by offering a high-quality, bespoke services, we can make our customer’s dreams come true.”

Mr. Gardiner was presented the award by Greig MacLeod of MacLeod Construction, the current President of the Scottish Building Federation (SBF) who sponsored the category.

Mr. MacLeod said: “The quality of the finalists in this category speaks volumes for the health of the Scottish construction and building sector.  They all deserve to be recognised for their fantastic work, not only in the projects they deliver but for the jobs they create and the young apprentices they support.”

“This year Stephen and his team just had the edge but I am sure the others will be back even stronger next year and looking to win this prestigious award.”
