A Glasgow-based digital marketing agency has unveiled ambitious plans for international expansion after securing a £1 million investment and rebranding to Peak Visibility.
Formerly known as A1 SEO, the business has undergone a strategic transformation aimed at positioning itself as a global leader in organic growth and digital visibility. The seven-figure investment – funded through retained profits—marks a significant milestone for the company as it builds on steady growth from its city centre headquarters.
Founded by Graham Grieve in 2014 as GMS Digital, the agency rebranded to A1 SEO in 2019 to reflect its growing specialism in search engine optimisation. Since then, it has built a strong reputation for delivering long-term return on investment for clients, including Barrhead Travel, Affordable Golf and Scottish law firm Harper Macleod.
The company has expanded to a 25-strong team and now services more than 100 clients across the UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, UAE and Australia.
The latest rebrand to Peak Visibility represents the next phase of an ambitious growth strategy, supported by continued investment in specialist talent and the development of proprietary software within its Glasgow base.
Grieve explained that the move reflects both the company’s evolution and wider changes within the digital marketing landscape.
“When we first set up, we were a full-service digital agency offering everything from SEO to social media management and web design,” he said. “It became clear we were one of many agencies trying to do everything, but SEO was where we truly excelled.
“In 2016, we made the decision to move other services to trusted specialists and focus purely on SEO. As A1 SEO, that worked well—but what we do now is unrecognisable compared to six years ago.”
He added that the business has since expanded its offering to include conversion rate optimisation, ensuring that website traffic delivers greater value.
“Everyone focuses on generating more traffic, but the real value comes from what happens once users land on a website,” he said. “We make customers more valuable by improving their websites and increasing the likelihood of conversion.”
The rebrand also reflects the rapid rise of artificial intelligence and changing consumer behaviour, with users increasingly turning to large language models and recommendation-based platforms to discover brands.
“Search has become a highly tailored journey,” Grieve said. “More people are using platforms like ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity to find products and services, rather than relying solely on traditional search engines.
“Google is also placing greater emphasis on user experience and press mentions. If your conversion rate is low, it signals a poor experience and businesses are being penalised as a result. Likewise, if a business isn’t press-worthy, it’s not Google-worthy.”
Looking ahead, Peak Visibility has set its sights firmly on global expansion, with a long-term goal of becoming the leading agency for businesses scaling organically.
“This is part of a major redevelopment of the business,” Grieve added. “We want to be the best in the world. Within the next decade, our aim is to support over 500 clients globally.
“To achieve that, we need to move beyond an SEO-focused identity and embrace a broader ‘visibility’ approach. It’s an exciting step, and with the team we have, I’m confident we’ll get there.”
