Singer and Love Island winner Paige Turley is calling on business leaders to swap their boardrooms for sleeping bags and brave the elements in a sleepout on Friday 3 October to raise donations for one of Scotland’s largest charities, Action for Children.

Now in its 28th year, Boycott your Bed unites corporate teams across the UK for a sleepout across four locations – including Glasgow – to raise vital funds for vulnerable children, young people and families.

For the first time and helping mark 70 years of the national children’s charity in Scotland this year, the Glasgow sleepout will take place at Hampden Park, the home of Scotland’s national football team.

The pitch-side sleepout against a backdrop of the 50,000-seat stadium, and site of historic sporting moments plus epic musical performances, is set to be an experience not to be missed.

Paige Turley said: “Yes, it’s going to be nippy, but I’ll be wrapping up in my coat, hat and my cup of tea will get me through the night. For me, those are basics, but for too many children in Scotland, they simply don’t have that right now. That’s why it’s so important for me to take part in Boycott your Bed – to raise awareness, and most importantly to encourage businesses to sign up, sleep out and help Action for Children continue supporting vulnerable children across the UK.”

The sleepouts will be taking place in London, Leeds, Manchester and Glasgow at the following locations:

  • Glasgow, Hampden Park
  • London, Paternoster Square, St Paul’s
  • Leeds, Royal Armouries Museum
  • Manchester, Siemens, Sir William Siemens House

Sleeping out in London this year, Tim Campbell MBE, entrepreneur and the first-ever winner of The Apprentice, has called on business leaders across the UK to support the event.

The event has raised an incredible £14.3 million over the years to help ensure children across the UK have the essentials for a safe and happy childhood. From items such as warm clothes, hot meals and a proper bed to mental health support and protection from neglect and abuse.

Additional corporate teams sleeping out in Glasgow this year include, Scottish Friendly, Dell Technologies, The FSE Group and Keir Construction.

The global technology powerhouse, Lenovo, continues to partner with this event, returning this year as headline sponsor.

Katherine Woods, Director of Income at Action for Children said: With every minute spent braving the elements, we’re taking action to help give children and young people the protection and practical help they urgently need.

“We’re proud to be standing alongside fantastic supporters like Paige Turley and Tim Campbell who help to shine a light on this vital cause.

“Together, we can be there, with love and without judgement, in moments of crisis when children are living without even the essentials or a safe place to sleep.”
