Basketball Scotland has announced a new partnership with Pelion, a global Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity provider, marking a significant step forward in the continued growth and modernisation of the sport across the country.
The partnership represents a shared commitment to innovation, community and performance, and will play a key role in supporting Basketball Scotland’s strategic ambitions at every level of the game.
Pelion’s investment will directly support: the preparation of Scotland’s teams for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, ongoing development and support of Scotland’s National Teams across the Home Nations, and the creation and delivery of a modern, engaging national junior programme identity and digital platform.
Pelion’s CEO, Dave Weidner, relocated from Seattle to Glasgow in 2022 and has since developed a strong personal connection to basketball in Scotland through his son’s involvement in the sport. This partnership reflects both a personal belief in the game and a broader alignment with Basketball Scotland’s vision for the future.
He said: “Since moving to Glasgow, I’ve seen up close what basketball means to the people building the game here, including through my own son. There’s real momentum, but also a need for more consistency, stronger pathways and better connection across the system.
