North Lanarkshire has emerged as one of Scotland’s most vibrant business destinations after commercial property sales rocketed by 90% in the last financial year, reaching £145.7million.
More than 1.6million square feet of commercial space changed hands in 2024/25, nearly double the previous year’s figure, as a wave of optimism swept through both local and international firms.
Recent highlights include Italian companies Eurostampa and Guala Closures opening major new manufacturing facilities in the area – with Eurostampa’s £30million Cumbernauld site representing its largest-ever investment, and Guala Closures unveiling a £60million, 20,000 square-metre plant in Gartcosh.
Both sites emphasise sustainability and technological innovation, fuelling job creation and further business confidence.
Councillor Alex McVey, convener of the enterprise and fair work committee, said: “These latest figures highlight continued economic growth across North Lanarkshire.
“It’s part of a co-ordinated approach by North Lanarkshire Council and our partners over the past few years.
“For example, our INVEST pre-planning service is streamlining the process for developers and investors, helping accelerate projects and reducing time to market.
“Companies also benefit from one-to-one business advice, training, recruitment support, and access to sector-specific grants and funding.
