One of Scotland’s leading planning consultants, David Bell, has set up a specialist renewable energy planning consultancy in Scotland, David Bell Planning Ltd.

He steps down as Director and Head of Planning for international property consultants Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) in Scotland after 18 years with the firm.

From 1 June 2019, David Bell Planning Ltd will start working with Airvolution Clean Energy, an independent onshore wind developer who work in partnership with Statkraft, Europe’s largest generator of renewable energy.

David has 30 years of planning and development experience, and has advised on some of the UK’s largest wind farm developments including Viking (Shetland), Dorenell (Moray), Fallago Rig Extension (Scottish Borders), South Kyle (East Ayrshire) and Millennium Extension (Highland) in Scotland and is a well known expert planning witness at Public Local Inquiries and Appeals throughout the UK.

David Bell said “I am delighted to be setting up David Bell Planning Ltd and to focus on renewable energy planning in Scotland.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my 18 years with JLL, working on a range of energy and commercial property projects throughout the UK.  I would like to thank the JLL team for their support and the amicable nature of my departure to pursue new opportunities.

“I have an exciting opportunity to advise Airvolution on their major development programme and to work closely with their expanding team in Scotland.  With planning reforms on the horizon and a growing cumulative development picture for onshore wind in Scotland, it is essential to have robust planning advice and I very much look forward to playing that role with Airvolution and Statkraft”.

Richard Mardon, CEO of Airvolution, said: “We’ve worked with David across multiple projects over the years, and it’s fantastic to have someone with his experience and reputation join our growing team in Glasgow.”
