ONE of Scotland’s fastest-growing IT and software business consultancies has appointed a new marketing director to drive its growth in domestic and international markets.

Melissa McMahon has joined The Software Advisory Service (SAS) from the acclaimed Edinburgh based AI software company Dayshape.

The appointment is a new senior position with the business and follows The Software Advisory Service’s announcement of the opening of its new Tenerife office – its fourth to sit alongside Glasgow, London and Malaga. It is anticipated that 150 jobs will be created by SAS on the island in the next two years.

Melissa joins the business to offer expertise in accelerating SAS’s growth into new territories and to develop the company’s existing brand, reporting directly to the board of SAS’s parent company, 4icg Group. She will be based out of SAS’s Glasgow office, and will lead teams across Europe.

With more than 20 years’ experience in strategic marketing roles in the UK and Washington, including at Skyscanner, American Express, and Capgemini, Melissa most recently led the rebrand of Scotland’s fastest growing tech company, Dayshape, overseeing the development of Dayshape’s marketing and brand disciplines, contributing to the company’s 220% year-over-year growth. Melissa holds an MBA from London Business School and BA from CAS New York University.

On her appointment, Melissa McMahon said: “The teams across 4icg have created a remarkable business, and I’m excited to build on such a substantial foundation. In the last 12 months alone, SAS has helped IT buyers make better decisions on over £3.2 billion worth of investments. I’m delighted to take on the challenge of growing SAS’s reach to help more businesses make the most of their IT spend.”

Lorraine Gray, director of 4ICG Group, said: “Melissa has a wealth of experience in listed and SME companies and we’re thrilled we’ve been able to secure her appointment for the Software Advisory Service.

“It was clear from our discussions with Melissa that she understood not only what IT and software buyers and vendors look for but also had extensive knowledge of two-sided marketplaces through her time at Skyscanner. This will be invaluable as SAS seeks to expand into new international territories over the next 18 months and beyond.

“We’re also delighted that Melissa will increase the number of women in our senior management team. As a company, we continue to promote IT as a great career path for women to explore and will play our part in helping the sector attract the best talent from across society.”
