Legal firm Lindsays is expanding its support for businesses across Tayside.

For the first time, it has a full-time Corporate lawyer based at its Dundee city centre office.

Sharon Somerville started work today (Wednesday) as part of a move to strengthen the firm’s team in the region amid growing demand and opportunities.

While Lindsays, which has 80 staff operating from its Seabraes offices, has provided Corporate advice to businesses in the city and surrounding areas for many years, it has not had a corporate lawyer operating permanently from the city.

Chris Todd, Lindsays’ Head of Office in Dundee, said: “Sharon’s appointment marks a step-change in our Corporate law offering in Dundee and throughout Tayside.

“While we will still draw on the experience of the wider Lindsays Corporate team and the great work they do already in the region, having someone based here full-time will make a considerable difference.

“Across our full spectrum of services we are already working with more people and businesses than ever locally and see significant potential to grow our client-base even further. Sharon will help us to realise those ambitions.”

Lindsays’ Corporate experts advise on all aspects of corporate and business law. They work predominately with SMEs, including a number of Tayside family businesses and creators in Dundee’s thriving games sector.

Ms Somerville, who lives with her family in Dundee, has most recently been with Davidson Chalmers Stewart in Edinburgh and joins Lindsays as a Senior Associate.

She advises on a broad range of corporate and commercial work, including acquisitions and disposals, reorganisations, contracts and intellectual property.

Earlier in her career she spent over two years as a Senior Solicitor with Miller Hendry in Dundee, leaving just months before that firm merged with Lindsays in 2023.

Ms Somerville said: “I’m excited to join such an impressive and highly regarded corporate team and  look forward to  contributing to the firm’s work with businesses throughout Tayside.

“Dundee is home to a thriving community of dynamic SMEs, and I see real opportunities for us to expand the network with whom we work and help local businesses to achieve their aspirations, while continuing to grow as a firm.”

Lindsays, whose Corporate lawyers have advised games creators through Abertay University’s Dare Academy for many years, also has offices in Perth and Crieff.
